Exhibit 07: Dual-Arm for Automated Structural Steel Welding

Structural Steel fabrication presents several assembly operations based on placing small accessories on beams. Welding operations of this accessories are mostly made manually, especially on SME’s. The emergence of the BIM, Building Information Modelling, and the digitalization of the construction sector, open large opportunities for the use of robotics in the construction industry. The combination of a flexible dual arm robot with advanced sensing that relies on the SME worker for uncertainty handling permits the creation of an automation system adapted to the SME’s needs.
