Exhibit 06: Automated and Precise Assembly for varying products

The production cell is designed for the automated assembly of products with a high amount of design variants and parts of small tolerances of just a few micrometers by employing a KUKA iiwa robot. An inline process control ensures a consistently good quality of the final product without involving a separate validation step.

BTU: Automated and Precise Assembly for varying

Use case

  • Assembly of products with parts having small tolerances
  • Separation of parts with varying shapes
  • Manufacturing of different product versions employing the same production cell
  • Reduction of manufacturing time due to inline quality control

Technological innovations

  • Implementation of an inline quality control
  • Capability of the robot to assemble a wide range of product versions
  • Realization of a fault tolerant, interactive programming
  • Integrated part separation solution

Benefits

  • Cost and time savings
  • Increased process quality due to early fault recognition
  • Flexible automation of a high product variety
  • Enabling of an intuitive, fast reconfiguration on shop floor level
  • Introduction of a flexible separation system applicable for various, differing parts
